Game Setup

• Here are some things you need to set in game to minimize lag and maximize fps.  As a general rule, cl_ commands are client (you) and sv_ commands are for the server.  So typing sv_cheats 1 wont do anything for you!

• Open Counter-Strike and open the console with the ~ key.  It is located to the left of the 1 key.  Type these command into your console:
  
  
• • rate 25000
  • cl_updaterate 100
  • cl_cmdrate 100
  • fps_max 100

Mouse Acceleration

• To change your mouse acceleration in Windows XP, open the control panel.  (Start, Control Panel)  Open Mouse, and change the tab in Mouse Properties to Pointer Options.  Uncheck Enchance Pointer Precision to remove mouse acceleration.

• In CS, mouse acceleration is built into the game and has to be turned off through a series of options.  This is not done in the game, so you must close it before making these changes.  Open the Steam Games window, and right-click Counter-Strike.  Open properties and then select the Set Launch Options button.  Type these commands to remove all mouse acceleration in-game:

Misc. Options

• Here are some other options you might find useful.  Type these into your console:

• • hud_fastswitch 1 (Quickly switch weapons with # keys)
  • net_graph 3 (Will show your loss/choke)
  • cl_righthand 0/1 (Changes gun hand)
